Midwest-based artist Katlin Spain makes abstract paintings & drawings that challenge the familiarity of an object.
In her studio practice,
Spain works to deconstruct familiar shapes & associations by changing their colors, textures, & patterns. She carefully curates them into landscape-like environments where these new objects can coexist.
It is in these vivid other-worldly scenes that the viewer can allow themselves to exist in a land of the sweetness & the phenomena of the 'new.'
Katlin Spain has received her BFA in Painting from The Kansas City Art Institute. While she is based out of Kansas City, she travels & works as an assistant with an international art gallery providing knowledge on world-renowned artists & their studio practices on a global level.
